Tung looking for 'useful' test

28 November 2009

Ho-Pin Tung is hoping to act in helpful fashion as he tests with Renault for the first time next week. The Chinese-Dutch driver will be attending Jerez's young driver test, having last driven a Formula 1 car during his sessions with Williams.

With Bertrand Baguette, Lucas di Grassi and Tung taking it in turns to drive this year's R29 in southern Spain, 26-year-old Tung - former A1GP representative for China - is hoping to provide as much on-track information as possible before Robert Kubica joins the team next year.

"I don't want to say much prior to this test," said Ho-Pin, who grew up in Holland. "Let's make my return to a Formula 1 car useful for the team, in the first place, by gathering valuable data about the car. I cannot wait to get into the car next week."

Tung appreciates the efforts of all involved, with his ultimate goal remaining firmly in the mind. "I am particularly grateful to the management of the Renault F1 Team, to Gravity Sport Management and my sponsors for making this all possible," he concluded. "I do take this opportunity with both hands because Formula 1 is still my goal."
