The Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix team is in need of more time to confirm its second driver, according to Norbert Haug. With Nico Rosberg already signed as the silver arrows' leading contender, it now seems as though the German will have to wait until the New Year before seeing a team-mate arrive.
Responding to speculation surrounding the second position available at Mercedes GP, formerly Brawn, Vice President for Motorsport Haug commented: "I understand that there has been a lot of interest lately in who will be racing with us, alongside Nico Rosberg.
"We need some more time. I can't promise you that we will announce his team-mate before Christmas. At the moment we're examining all of our options and that just needs a lot of time."
A number of drivers are currently linked with the Brackley-based squad, among them Nick Heidfeld and seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher.
