Ralf Schumacher eyeing F1 comeback

28 December 2009

With older brother Michael having been confirmed as a Mercedes GP driver last week, Ralf Schumacher is now hoping to return to the sport he retired from at the end of 2007. After spending two years in the DTM touring car series with Mercedes, 34-year-old Ralf now wishes to make his own Formula 1 comeback.

Having made his F1 debut with Jordan for the 1997 season, Schumacher junior achieved six race victories with Williams before leaving the sport after a disappointing final season with Toyota two years ago.

"I feel that my desires to race in Formula 1 are still there," Ralf told Germany's Bild. According to the magazine, Schumacher has already turned down an offer from one of the sport's four new teams. "There must be a challenge - it is not about money but what we can achieve with the team," he continued.

"I know that my reputation suffered during my time at Toyota but I left that behind me. I know what I can do and I feel ready to do it again."
