Visitors at next weekend's Autosport International show in Birmingham will be able to discuss the ins and outs of karting as stars such as Anthony Davidson, Allan McNish and World Champion Jenson Button promote an essential part of motorsport - more often than not the first taste of speed for racing drivers.
With a cocktail of experienced campaigners plus young guns attending, former Super Aguri driver Davidson is thoroughly looking forward to his trip to the NEC. "I see karting as a vital part of racing in any young driver's career," said the BBC Radio 5 live F1 commentator. "It's the grassroots of motorsport and you pick up so many skills in karting that you carry through with you right to the top. It's also great fun and easy to get into."
"Karting has always had a very important part to play in any driver's career," added Scot McNish, who drove a single season of Formula 1 for Toyota in 2002. "It's a perfect way to learn and develop your skills and also to enjoy the experience of driving and racing.
"If you look at the UK and the last two F1 Champions, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton developed their talents in karting and at circuits across the British Isles and it's therefore only appropriate that karting has such a strong presence at Autosport International."
GPUpdate TV will also be at next week's show, bringing you the latest videos for predictions and opinions.
