Adrián Campos has insisted that his team will be present on the Bahrain starting grid, despite admitting that Campos Meta 1 is in need of a cash boost. One in a quartet of new outfits in Formula 1 this year, recent rumours have linked the team to Tony Teixeira, head of the A1 Grand Prix series.
With hearsay circulating that Campos may not make it to the start of the season due to a lack of funds, founder Adrián Campos is positive that his team will realise its F1 dream this March.
"We will be at the first race," the Spaniard told BBC Sport. "We are talking with people who would like to be shareholders and we expect to have more investors.
"People speak too much and make trouble for us. I don't want to sell my part of the team and I will remain the Team Principal - the condition to be a shareholder is to accept all the existing contracts. We are looking for investors and sponsors but the project is very much alive."
Furthermore, contrary to recent popular belief in the media, the team stresses that no payments are outstanding. "It is not true, not from our side at least," explained Andrea Pontremoli, Chief Executive of car constructors Dallara. "We are still proceeding to build the car and it has passed its crash tests."
With an A1GP spokesperson having told GPUpdate.net that the series' fifth season is now highly unlikely to go ahead, Campos talked briefly of Teixeira's link to his own team. "People speak about Teixeira but we are talking to others as well," he concluded.
