A 'bitter' Flavio Briatore has vowed never again to run a team in Formula 1, despite successfully overturning the FIA's decision to ban him from the sport for life. Following the 'Crashgate' race-fixing scandal which rocked the sporting world last year, the Italian is pleased over the outcome of the October hearing with Paris courts.
With the Tribunal de Grande Instance having lifted the ban which saw the 59-year-old thrown out of not just F1 but all FIA motorsport championships, the joint-owner of Queen's Park Rangers football club spoke to The Mirror.
"It was a great victory for me in the French court," he commented. "I still feel bitter about what happened and for three or four months it was very, very difficult. "I will never manage another team in Formula 1 in my life, that is sure, but I have got my dignity back which is important after 20 years in the sport."
Briatore, who left Renault F1 when the case surrounding the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix came to light, added that the sport's governing body is entirely at fault for ultimately failing to impose the ban permanently.
"We had the report of the FIA and the report of the stewards and there was no evidence (saying) that I was involved in the accident (of Nelson Piquet Jr)," he concluded. "This is official. Done by the FIA. Simple."
