Mercedes prepares to unveil 2010 livery

25 January 2010

Mercedes-Benz is ready to launch the livery with which it will return to Formula 1 racing as a works team this season. Last seen on the grid as a team in its own right in 1955, the German manufacturer has been involved in the sport in recent years as an engine supplier as well as partner of the McLaren team.

With the likes of Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss now emulated by Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg, Mercedes returns to F1 as a Champion team thanks to the success of Ross Brawn's Brackley-based outfit last year.

Monday morning's presentation - which will see last year's Brawn BGP001 in new colours - is being held at the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart on what is, weather-wise, a dull day in the German city with temperatures in the region of 0°C (32°F).

As well as its own squad, the marque will also be supplying engines to McLaren and Force India this season.

Other car launches this week:

Ferrari Thursday - Maranello, Italy
McLaren Friday - Newbury, UK
Renault Sunday - Valencia, Spain
Sauber Sunday - Valencia, Spain
