Cosworth satisfied with engine reliability
The Cosworth CA2010 engine passed the first test of racking up 1,200 kilometres (745 miles) during Valencia testing this week as the Northamptonshire-based company returns to Formula 1.
After an absence of three years, the British firm makes a comeback to supply Williams once again as well as the sport's four new teams, amassing to a total of 10 of the grid's 26 cars.
Of the five teams in question, only Williams was present for the first official pre-season session in Valencia although no reliability gremlins showed up with the brand-new Cosworth unit.
Williams only technical problem, in fact, came in the shape of a software bug which caused Rubens Barrichello to stop on-track on Monday.
"Our work with Williams was very important to collect data and to get feedback from the drivers," explained Mark Gallagher, CEO of the Cosworth F1 project. "The first results were measured between the new CA2010 engine and the brand-new FW32 chassis."
