The first Lotus Formula 1 car for 14 years was on a race track on Tuesday as Fairuz Fauzy debuted the yet-to-be-named contender on the Stowe circuit at Silverstone. The legendary label returns to the sport this year as Tony Fernandes' Norfolk-based 1Malaysia outfit runs the project.
This week marks a special one for Lotus F1, which launches a new website and Facebook fan page as well as running its car for the first time. The team will then travel to Spain for the car's first official pre-season test in Jerez, beginning next Wednesday.
With test and reserve Fauzy having been first to pilot the car in an historic yellow and green livery, on what marked an emotional day for several members of the team, race-winning drivers Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen will take over in Spain.
