Liuzzi targeting points in every race

10 February 2010

Vitantonio Liuzzi was first to test the Force India VJM03 on Wednesday as the Italian drove the car at Jerez. Unfortunately, like fellow British-based squads Red Bull and Virgin, the Silverstone team's first running of 2010 was hampered by heavy rain.

After electing to skip the first test in Valencia last week, Force India's Wednesday featured 71 laps for Italian Liuzzi, whose best effort of 1:24.968 placed the car seventh out of ten. The former Red Bull and Toro Rosso racer returns to the sport full-time this year for the first time since 2006.

"It was definitely a good start." Tonio explained to reporters in Spain. "Unfortunately, we did just two laps in dry conditions but we had a good result, considering it was wet.

"We did more than 70 laps, the car felt really reliable with no big issues and the weather helped with a few developments around the car, with cooling and things like that. We are now looking forward to tomorrow and, hopefully, it'll be a better day."

Tonio will remain in the cockpit on Thursday before team-mate Adrian Sutil drives on Friday and Saturday. Both men strive to finish in the top ten at all Grands Prix this season. "As Adrian said, we're aiming to have a competitive car which can finish in the points at every race," Liuzzi continued. "If we can get more, like we did on a couple of occasions last year, then that's more than welcome!"
