Webber satisfied despite Wednesday problems

11 February 2010

Mark Webber was pleased with the initial on-track run for the new Red Bull RB6 although the team lost over four hours of running time at Jerez on Wednesday due to an oil leak. Upon returning to the track with 15 minutes remaining, red flags for Nico Rosberg ensured an early end to the day.

Having unveiling the new car with team-mate Sebastian Vettel at 8:30am, Webber was immediately out of the pits as testing started although, with rain falling an hour later and the car then coming to a halt two and a half hours after that, there were mixed feelings for Red Bull Racing.

"It was a pretty positive feeling, actually," Webber reported to the media. "It wasn't exactly a clean day of testing, with the changeable conditions, but that's the same with everyone.

"Although we did have an unfortunate and pretty basic oil leak which turned out to be a bit more of a palaver than that; it was unfortunate that, with hindsight, we could have probably handled that a little bit better, but that's the way it goes sometimes."

With the mechanics having had to remove the car's floor, Mark confirmed that the performance of the Renault-powered contender is as expected. "Everything felt as we had targeted," the Australian continued, adding that the car feels the same to that of last year. "On a normal, wet, slippery day at Jerez, it felt fine. There were no real vices."
