Wednesday's reports of US F1 possibly not making the grid this season have been receiving with a rapid reaction of internet rumours, not least that 1997 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve could make a return to Formula 1 with the Stefan GP team, which still hopes for a place on the grid.

With all 13 grid slots full but US F1's future looking even more shaky after co-owner Peter Windsor reportedly informed the father of José María López that the team may miss the first three races and possibly the entire season, the door could now be open for Serbia's Stefan, which has purchased a raft of Toyota F1 equipment.

It is widely known that F1 commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone would like to see the Belgrade-based outfit competing in the sport this year and the Englishman could also be a supporter of a comeback for Villeneuve.

Should we see a return for the French-Canadian, F1 2010 will match an all-time record by boasting five Champions on its grid.
