Data matching predictions at Virgin

19 February 2010

Having developed its car only with computer technology as opposed to the use of a wind tunnel, the Virgin Racing team was delighted to see that readings in Jerez on Thursday continued to match those predicted with CFD (Computation Fluid Dynamics) back at base in the United Kingdom.

Although the weather continues to disrupt teams' plans in Spain, with another heavy thunderstorm having since hit the Jerez area during the night, Nick Wirth was highly pleased with the lap total amassed by Timo Glock who, despite an off in the morning, circulated 72 times on his way to the eighth best time out of 12 drivers.

"After a great overnight effort from the Virgin Racing team, we managed to complete more than a race distance today, which is very satisfying after our frustrations of yesterday," the new team's Technical Director explained.

"We also managed to prove out some development parts which gave results completely in-line with the performance prediction from the development programme at Wirth Research; this is always satisfying as it gives the team and drivers a great and confidence-inspiring introduction to our development programme for this car.

"We continue to work around the clock to fix issues as they arise and we're looking forward to Lucas (di Grassi)'s comments on the car's progress tomorrow."
