Kubica happy despite crosswinds

19 February 2010

Robert Kubica was pleased with the performance of the Renault R30 as he returned to the cockpit on Friday for the first time this week. The Pole, who picked up where Russian team-mate Vitaly Petrov had left off, registered a best lap of 1:21.916 and a lap total of exactly 100.

With the rain incredibly staying away following heavy showers overnight, the former BMW driver was able to make the most of a bright day and dry track conditions in Spain on Friday.

"In the morning it was damp, so we just did an installation lap to check everything was working and waited for the track to dry," Robert explained.

"The conditions were quite windy, which has a big influence on the car, but we were able to test quite a lot of things so I'm pretty pleased with the day."

Kubica will conclude Renault's Jerez test on Saturday before heading to Barcelona next week.
