Kazuki Nakajima has vowed not to give up on his Formula 1 chances for the future after being left on the sidelines prior to the start of the upcoming season. The former Williams driver had hoped to compete with Serbian hopefuls Stefan Grand Prix although - despite a failure to enter from US F1 - the Belgrade-based squad was not granted a spot on the grid.
With US F1's only hope now being a place in the 2011 line-up, Stefan had pushed for the struggling American team to withdraw early although, with it not being confirmed as out of the 2010 season until such a late date, governing body the FIA later released a statement explaining that no other outfit would fill the breach at this point.
"With Stefan GP having not gained an approval to enter, my plans are unclear," Nakajima explained on his website, with Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi thus becoming Japan's sole F1 representative. "I will continue to work hard to find a way back to the World Championship."
Naturally disappointed, Kazuki accepts the sequence of recent events which also prevented him from being a likely team-mate to 1997 title winner Jacques Villeneuve. "That's the nature of the sport," Nakajima continued. "I will keep looking forward and for now will be spending some time under the surface, keeping busy and concentrating on how to secure a quick return to F1."
