Like all in the Sakhir paddock, Christian Horner thoroughly looks forward to discovering how the much-awaited 2010 season will pan out, with chapter one commencing in the Bahraini desert this weekend. With Red Bull Racing having finished as runners-up in both title fights last year, its Team Principal looks forward to the exciting challenge which lies ahead.
With a total of six race wins to Brawn's eight, catching up from a lack of a double diffuser and a number of unreliability problems preventing Red Bull from mounting a strong enough title attack in 2009 although Christian Horner is confident that the Adrian Newey-designed RB6 can overpower its selection of rivals.
"I think it's hard to read Mercedes' true performance," Horner explained on Wednesday, "but Michael (Schumacher) looks on it; he's definitely given nothing away after his time out but I think it's going to be great as we're going to have Michael Schumacher racing and not just b*****ing off into the lead!
"Massa has been okay but it's going to be fascinating too see how he handles Alonso, a very different animal to deal with than Kimi Räikkönen; Fernando's a pretty ruthless operator and won't take any prisoners - a fantastic driver and a combination of Ferrari and Alonso is going to be a strong one.
"It was a bold move from Jenson (Button) to go into Lewis (Hamilton)'s environment, effectively into his team and take him on; he obviously had the inner confidence to feel that he could be on equal terms and take Lewis - only time will tell if he was right...
"I think it's interesting that you've got British, German and Latin teams and then we're a bit more cosmopolitan."
