LG links up with Cosworth

LG, the official Technology Partner of Formula 1, has increased its commitment to the sport by moving into a partnership with Cosworth. The Northampton-based company returns to F1 this year following a break of three years and in doing so parners the Williams , Lotus, Hispania and Virgin teams.

Having been a Global Partner of F1 since last year, LG holds exclusive marketing rights in the sport for Official Consumer Electronics plus the Mobile Phone, Data Processor and Flat TV of Formula One.

The LG-Cosworth partnership will see the engine manufacturer which first won a Grand Prix with Jim Clark in 1967 be supplied with LG devices such as high definition LCD televisions and projectors, DVD recorders and laptops to be used both at base and on location at races.

"In returning to the pinnacle of world motorsport as a provider of engines, electronics and engineering consultancy, we are very pleased to have attracted LG Electronics as our Official Consumer Electronics Partner," said Mark Gallagher, the General Manager of the F1 Business Unit at Cosworth. "LG's products greatly enhance our capabilities and the first results of this partnership are already visible in our newly refurbished media and visitor centre at our factory in Northampton."
