
Following a meeting of its Motor Sport World Council (WMSC) in Bahrain on Thursday, Formula 1 governing body the FIA has confirmed a Superlicence for Hispania Racing driver Karun Chandhok. The document is required by any driver who wishes to take part in the World Championship.
Already confirmed as an HRT F1 driver, becoming India's second Formula 1 pilot after Narain Karthikeyan in the process, Chandhok's Superlicence was confirmed courtesy of an FIA statement:
'Based on his previous Formula One test mileage and his participation in the GP2 Championship, the World Council has approved the granting of a super licence to Karun Chandhok.'
