Tost: Lesson learned for F1 doubters

29 March 2010

Toro Rosso Team Principal Franz Tost reminded Formula 1 cynics that hope should not be lost after one processional race following an action-packed Australian Grand Prix at the weekend.

With the media and a selection of fans have slated the sport's new regulations, claiming that a lack of refuelling in pit-stops resulted in less general excitement at Sakhir, Melbourne featured a number of thrills and spills in the shape of changeable weather conditions, varied pit strategies and overtakes.

"This was a fantastic and very interesting Formula 1 race and a lesson to those who seem to want to change the rules of the sport every five minutes," Tost said after the Faenza-based team experienced an eventful afternoon.

"Unfortunately, Buemi was involved in an opening lap incident with Kobayashi. As for Alguersuari, he did a solid job right from the start of Friday and it was by far the most competitive race weekend of his F1 career."
