Ferrari Driver Academy regroups in Italy

19 May 2010

The Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) moved into the third stage of its 2010 programme on Tuesday as Jules Bianchi, Mirko Bortolotti and Daniel Zampieri took to the Vallelunga track near Rome in a 2008 Formula 1 car.

Driving the F2008, which drove to that year's Constructors' title and the runner-up spot in the drivers' contest courtesy of Felipe Massa, the three FDA drivers took turns in the car which is prepared by the Scuderia's F1 Clienti department.

The two Italians and the Frenchman were overseen by Luca Baldisserri, who is in charge of Ferrari's Driver Academy initiative.

"They all improved a lot, especially in their work methods," he explained. "They are on the right road to becoming very good drivers."

"Naturally, the aim of this programme is to help one grow towards eventually making it into the world of F1," added Bianchi, who is currently placed fourth in the GP2 standings after finishing on the podium for ART in Monaco's sprint race on Saturday.
