Grosjean to race in Auto GP

22 June 2010

It has been confirmed that ex Renault F1 man Romain Grosjean has joined the new-for-2010 Auto GP series ahead of this weekend’s round at Spa-Francorchamps. The news follows the Franco-Swiss driver’s outing in the Le Mans 24 Hours two weekends ago.

Having replaced Nélson Piquet Jr. at Renault for the final seven races of the 2009 Formula 1 campaign, Grosjean was not retained by the newly-owned squad for 2010 but does still aim to return to the sport next year.

For the time being, however, the 24-year-old from Geneva is focussing on his Auto GP debut. "I am really excited about this new challenge and I would like to first of all thank the DAMS team for this opportunity," he said.

"I am really looking forward to being back in a single-seater car; I'm sure I will have a great experience with DAMS and I'm sure that it will be very productive for both of us.

"Spa is a beautiful circuit and it's always something special, racing there with a powerful and competitive car."
