Vettel back on top in final practice session

26 June 2010

Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel set today's best practice time as the chequered flag flew after 60 minutes on Saturday morning. The German completed this weekend's fastest lap in 1.38.052 and finished ahead of Renault driver Robert Kubica and Mark Webber. Adrian Sutil did well for Force India by achieving fourth.

On Saturday morning the Red Bull team announced that it would continue running with the team's F-duct this weekend. So far it looks like it was the right decision for the team as Sebastian Vettel was back on top of the time sheets. The German saw his team-mate finish in third and the duo should now be able to challenge the McLaren's and Ferrari's again for pole position on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday morning's free practice session started slowly. After everyone completed its installation lap the track went quiet for a while. It wasn't until 17 minutes into the session when the fans saw the Toro Rosso drivers back on-track, the first to complete a timed lap.

The fans in Valencia didn't see any incidents; apart from a few drivers who nearly lost it on the still slippery surface, there were were no major moments to report.

At Force India Adrian Sutil was doing well; the German ran in the top five for most of the time before completing the session as the leading Mercedes-powered runner in fourth. Team-mate Vitantonio Liuzzi was seventh.

World championship-leading McLaren drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton were doing well on Friday but finished ninth and tenth today this morning; the British duo seemed more focussed on the race setups and should be closer to the front this afternoon.

Qualifying for the 2010 European Grand Prix begins at 2pm (BST +1)
