Sutil downcast about Force India grip loss

26 June 2010

Adrian Sutil led the way for Mercedes-powered cars by finished fourth in final practice on Saturday morning although the German’s Valencia qualifying session was a different story. The leading Force India driver starts 13th as he and team-mate Vitantonio Liuzzi share the seventh row.

As Renault and Williams made the top ten shootout with both cars, more familiar faces Force India and Mercedes GP were both eliminated in Q2 – a particularly unsatisfactory result for Adrian, especially when considering his morning form.

“This morning the car felt really good and I could push on both the Prime (harder) and the Option (softer) tyres and it showed in the time I was able to do,” he explained. “But in Q2 I had a clean lap but the grip just didn't seem to be there.

“Over the whole session it was so hard and we couldn't get the tyres to work - such a big difference from the morning session.

“It's obviously very disappointing as we looked very strong here and we didn't change much from this morning. I'm now concentrating on the race - we had a good event here last year and, as we saw in Montreal, our race pace is very strong so there's always opportunities to make up positions.”
