Glock penalised for ignoring blue flags

27 June 2010

As nine drivers were handed 5-second time penalties for driving too quickly under Safety Car conditions in Valencia, 20 seconds were added to Timo Glock’s final race time for ignoring blue flags.

Sporting regulations state that drivers can pass a maximum of three blue flag stations before being penalised although second-placed Lewis Hamilton lost over two seconds when being held up by Virgin Racing driver Glock on Lap 36.

The German driver, who was battling with Bruno Senna’s Hispania, eventually clouted the Turn 18 wall, having picked up a puncture due to being hit by the Brazilian.
