Renault were pleased with the affects of more significant upgrades in Valencia as they continue to take new car parts to all races in 2010. However, Alan Permane believes that a greater performance gain will be seen at Silverstone next time out.
Scoring ten points to Mercedes GP’s one in the European Grand Prix, Renault have now moved to within 20 of fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship as their constant updates continue to pay off; for instance, over 20 new front wings have already been introduced this season.
“Everything performed as we expected it to and the new front wing and new blown floor worked very well,” Permane, Chief Race Engineer, said on Tuesday morning.
“It always takes time to fully understand any updates you put on the car and it’s difficult to do that in just one weekend, so we feel there is still more potential to come from them.
“In fact, we can probably expect to get more of an advantage from the updates at Silverstone, especially the blown floor because there are a lot more high-speed corners where you’re on the throttle through the corners - we’re confident of another strong showing there.”
