Red Bull Racing has confirmed that it will not be introducing significantly upgraded car parts as the team heads home to Silverstone next weekend. This follows last year’s British Grand Prix, when new components began a new chapter in the 2009 season as Sebastian Vettel led Mark Webber came home with a convincing 1-2 result.
Vettel’s latest win in Valencia means that Red Bull have now equalled McLaren’s sum of four victories so far in 2010, with Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso making up the nine races courtesy of his season-opening success in Bahrain. However, Red Bull’s Silverstone car will remain mostly unchanged from that of the Spanish streets.
“We won't have any large changes for the car at Silverstone – just mainly small, evolutionary changes for the front and rear wings,” Chief Designer Adrian Newey explained about the RB6 in Valencia, with the Milton Keyes-based squad now excited about running its f-duct on the new Arena section curves in Northamptonshire.
“We look forward to the first time we try the new section of the circuit in anger; like all of the other teams, we’ve received the plan map which we have simulated, but not until we actually run will we be able to assess details such as the bumps and grip changes.”
