Following the confusion and subsequent controversy of the European Grand Prix a fortnight ago, Formula 1 governing body the FIA is preparing for adjustments to the regulations in Britain this weekend, Autosport reports on Thursday.
With Lewis Hamilton having overtaken the Safety Car on Lap 10, leading to a furious reaction from Fernando Alonso and Ferrari, nine other drivers collected post-race penalties for disobeying the delta times displayed on their steering wheels and circulating too quickly under yellow flag conditions.
After much of the field complained that time to react to the Safety Car was too limited, it is now being considered that drivers will have to adopt the same speed as the silver Mercedes once it is on-track. The idea, which is likely to be trialled ahead of Sunday’s race, comes after other suggestions such as closing the pit lane completely when the Safety Car is first deployed.
