Vettel praises ‘magnificent’ Silverstone track

9 July 2010

Although there were mixed views on the Silverstone Arena circuit following three hours of practice on Friday, Sebastian Vettel shared his positive feedback on the changed track following a day which featured a dramatic spin for the German.

After leading the way in the morning session, Vettel dropped to third in the afternoon as team-mate Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari stole the top two positions. However, Sebastian was lucky to escape unscathed after taking too much kerb and spinning his Red Bull in the middle of Stowe corner.

“The sessions were okay today but in the afternoon I had a bit of a spin and flat-spotted a set of Hard tyres,” he commented. “We also had a problem with the brake pedal, but nothing big.

“The pace of the car was good. The new section of the track is quite low-speed, but it’s not as slow as we expected and doesn’t kill the rhythm; it adds something new and makes if more of a challenge. The track here is magnificent - it’s good fun, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”
