Virgin launches new Race Management system

11 July 2010

Virgin Racing has announced that, courtesy of a partnership with UST Global, it has launched a new race management tool to allow quicker strategic decisions to be made during races. The system, an integrated software application, will capture and store hundreds of gigabytes of data.

With Virgin aiming to finish 2010 as the highest-placed new team, the new system will allow those on the pit wall to make best use of information such as audio-visual feeds from trackside and on-car cameras plus GPS positioning of cars.

This information will then be streamed, either in real-time or on demand, to an integrated dashboard display, allowing race engineers to analyse data for both cars.

“We are developing an extremely exciting technical partnership with UST Global, whose dedicated team of professionals provide us with invaluable expertise and knowledge in the IT field,” explained Virgin Racing Technical Director Nick Wirth.

“Their new race management system will be a huge advantage for us during race weekends and will provide a significant contribution to our team’s performance.”
