Massa laments loss of grip

10 July 2010

Felipe Massa hoped for more on Saturday at Silverstone but remains confident ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Starting seventh on the grid, the Brazilian had troubles with raising sufficient tyre temperatures in qualifying.

Although Red Bull may have controlled at the top of the timesheets, Massa's best effort left him seven tenths of a second slower than team-mate Fernando Alonso.

“I am pleased with the performance of my car, which was competitive today,” the Ferrari driver began.

“Unfortunately, I always struggled a lot in terms of getting grip from the tyres on the first lap on a new set, as was especially obvious in Q3...a shame, as I could have got a better result.”

Describing the problems as similar to those of Melbourne or Barcelona, Massa is keeping confident. “Yesterday, when we had a heavy fuel load on-board, we managed to maintain a good pace and I hope that tomorrow it will be even better,” he summed up.
