Williams suitably recorded its first double points finish of the season at home in Britain on Sunday, with Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hülkenberg finishing fifth and tenth at Silverstone.
Following Barrichello's fourth placed result in Valencia last time out, the Brazilian was pleased to be in the top five once again as his team-mate – who was deprived of a point due to a cracked exhaust two weeks ago – scored for the first time since Malaysia in April.
“It was a good race today,” Barrichello began. “It started well on the opening lap and I managed to claim some positions without too much trouble. Around the stops and the Safety Car, we gained a position from Alonso and lost one to Jenson (Button), but overall we were in a safe position to come home fifth.”
“All in all that was a positive race,” Hülkenberg added. “It's a shame I lost places at the start, though, and going down the Hangar Straight Petrov just managed to overtake me around the outside. That, combined with not being able to pass Michael (Schumacher) at the end, meant tenth for me today.”
The collection of 11 points today ensures that Williams moves to within 16 of Force India and sixth place in the Constructors' Championship.
