The MSA (Motor Sports Association, the national governing body for motorsport in the United Kingdom) has congratulated 14-year-old Alexander Albon for clinching the crown in the CIK-FIA European KF3 karting championship.
Albon, Red Bull-backed, hails from Suffolk and is son of Nigel, a British Touring Car racer in the 1990s who last competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia in 2007.
Having seen off dozens of international rivals, Alexander picked up his first title outside of Britain at Belgium’s Genk circuit last weekend.
“It felt so amazing to win the European title and I think it was the biggest achievement of my karting career so far,” he commented.
“Alex confirmed his potential by winning the MSA British Junior Kart Championship last year and, now that he has taken the European KF3 title, it is clear that he has a bright future ahead of him,” added MSA Chief Executive Colin Hilton.
