Fauzy to return for Hockenheim’s first practice

19 July 2010

Lotus Racing has confirmed that test and reserve driver Fairuz Fauzy will be back in the cockpit earlier than expected, for the first German Grand Prix practice session on Friday. The outing will mark the Malaysian’s third of the year, after Sepang and Silverstone.

Having joined Lotus at the start of the season and enjoyed his first taste of driving in Malaysia, Fauzy was delighted to return at Silverstone although his run was cut short by technical problems, prompting the team hand him extra time in Germany. He will also drive in Hungary, Singapore and Abu Dhabi.

“It’s an exciting day for all of us in the Lotus Racing team,” Team Principal Tony Fernandes said on Monday afternoon.

“Being able to tell Fairuz he has another Friday run a week before he thought he’d be back in the car is a great way to start the week and we all know he’ll deliver for us, both on-track and in the feedback he’ll provide the team.

“He’s an inspiration to young drivers around the world, proving that being determined to make your dreams come true can make very exciting things happen!”
