Sauber will reveal the latest version of their diffuser at Hockenheim this weekend as Pedro de la Rosa and Kamui Kobayashi also display messages marking the Swiss team’s 40th anniversary.
Sauber is currently on a superb run with Kobayashi, who finished a season’s best sixth at Silverstone after also picking up points in Istanbul and Valencia. De la Rosa would have scored on the Spanish street circuit as well, had he not been penalised after finishing tenth.
For Germany – the team’s first race in the country since manufacturer BMW pulled the plug on its Formula 1 project at the end of last season –updated parts are hoped to move the duo up another gear.
“After two good races we obviously want to carry on the momentum as best we can at Hockenheim,” said Technical Director James Key. “It’s going to be a trade-off between downforce and drag; there are some high-speed areas, which we think will suit our car well.
“We will have several aero updates on our C29, including a modified diffuser - it’s a package which is again a step in the same direction we’ve been pursuing for Valencia and Silverstone.”
