Williams targets double top ten grid positions

21 July 2010

Having seen both of its cars make the top ten in qualifying at Sepang at in Valencia so far this season, Williams hope to repeat the feat as Formula 1 heads back to Hockenheim this weekend.

Since the turn of the millennium, Williams has enjoyed two strong victories at the German circuit, with Ralf Schumacher triumphing in front of his home crowd in 2001 before team-mate Juan Pablo Montoya crossed the line over a minute ahead of his rivals two years later.

“After a couple of good race results at two quite different circuits, the team is looking forward to a competitive outing at Hockenheim,” commented Technical Director Sam Michael. “Our target is to qualify both cars in the top ten and to race for points.

“We have made some further modifications to the diffuser and also to the blown rear wing, which we'll test during Friday’s practice sessions. Although the development race is fierce, testing restrictions really enable all of the teams to compete on equal terms.”

After ten of the nineteen rounds in 2010, Sir Frank’s Grove squad sit seventh in the Constructors’ Championship and 16 points in arrears of Force India.
