Sebastian Vettel was forced to sit out of a charity football match in Germany on Thursday, having suffered an injury earlier in the week. However, the Red Bull driver – who finished second in free practice on Friday – is confident that the problem will have no ill affects whilst at the wheel of his car this weekend.
With Fernando Alonso topping the timesheets in Practice 2, Vettel tried but failed to better the Ferrari’s driver’s times, with at least two laps being compromised by mistakes. However, his pace confirms that any injuries are of no concern.
“It’s nothing; I can still walk but to play football would probably have been a bit too risky, so that’s why I had to cancel,” he explained. “I had a bit of an incident at the beginning of the week, nothing big, but it didn’t allow me to play football.
“I fell down when I was running - nothing special but I had a bit of a hyper-extension of the muscle on the leg, nothing big. I can walk, it’s not a disaster.”
