Trulli content with overall Lotus performance

24 July 2010

Jarno Trulli is pleased with the raw pace Lotus is showing this weekend, as he leads the way for Formula 1’s three new teams at Hockenheim. Courtesy of a best effort in the form of 1:17.583, the Italian driver starts 16th in Germany.

Although Virgin Racing threatened to demote at least one Lotus today, Timo Glock’s quickest lap time was a significant eight tenths of a second slower than that of Trulli.

“So far it’s been a good weekend for me,” Jarno explained to reporters after Q1. “I’m happy, I’m happy with the car and everything but we don’t want to catch up this year, we want to work towards next year.

“When you’re driving, you just want to do your best and be as quick as possible but obviously in your mind you’re always wondering if you can just catch one of the established teams.

"In general, I’m happy because this weekend we’ve done a very good job.”
