Force India receives reprimand for tyre mix-up

Force India has been warned by FIA Race Stewards following a pit-stop blunder at Hockenheim on Sunday afternoon.

Following first-lap drama which compromised both Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi at the Turn 6 hairpin, both men pitted.

However, each others’ tyres were fitted to the incorrect car – something which is strictly forbidden under Formula 1’s regulations.

Despite this, as the team recognised the error immediately and brought their cars back in to rectify the situation, an overall disqualification has been avoided.
