Kubica hoping to welcome many Polish fans in Hungary

27 July 2010

Robert Kubica is looking forward to the upcoming race weekend, the Hungarian Grand Prix. The race is the closest race on the Formula 1 calendar to Poland and thus a sort of home grand prix according to the Renault driver.

While Kubica is not expecting to be as competitive as he was in Monaco (qualified in second and finished third) he does expect the team's R30 to suit the track. “I think it will be a more suitable track for our car and I hope we can be closer to the front than we were in Germany,” Kubica said. “But I honestly don’t think we can hope to repeat the kind of pace we showed in Monaco earlier this season.”

Speaking about his 'home grand prix' Kubica said: “I’m really looking forward to the weekend and we usually see a lot of Polish fans coming to Budapest, so it’s a sort of home grand prix for me and for the Polish fans. I am expecting a lot of people to come, and a good atmosphere from the crowd, so we are hoping that we can put in a good performance for them.”
