The Monaco Grand Prix will be remaining on the Formula 1 calendar for at least another ten years, following a meeting in British capital city London between the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) and sporting commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone's Formula One Administration (FOA).
Established by Anthony Noghes in 1929, Monaco’s is the oldest current Grand Prix event to remain and, although due to its historic background a place on the calendar is almost always certain, rumours emerged last week when ACM released a statement responding to reported comments from Ecclestone.
The message confirmed that the Automobile Club was in talks with the head of FOA with regards to a new contract, even though the Englishman had been quoted in the media as saying the sport ‘could do without’ the notable event.
Also, with its race having been in mid-May this season, it has also been revealed that Monte-Carlo’s Grand Prix will now return to a spot later on in the month, starting with May 29 in 2011.
