Sebastian Vettel comfortably headed both practice session in Hungary on Friday, ending the afternoon period half a second quicker than the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso despite the Spaniard having made up the same amount of time since the morning.
Judging by the Friday pace of Red Bull, the Milton Keynes cars have the potential to control the race on Sunday although the German is not so sure.
“I wouldn't say that,” he said shortly after Practice 2. “This morning I think we know what happened, and the gaps were very big, but this afternoon was much more like it.
“I think the Ferraris could be very close again the pace was very similar on long runs, so again it looks tight and McLaren are good at coming back for Saturday, so you never know.”
However, although Renault appear to be the fourth fastest cars in Budapest, Vettel did acknowledge that battles for podium places are most likely to be between Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren once again.
