Alguersuari leads Toro Rosso challenge

30 July 2010

Jaime Alguersuari celebrates a year in Formula 1 this weekend, having been called into Toro Rosso at late notice following the ousting of Sébastien Bourdais following the 2009 German Grand Prix. The Spaniard, who out-qualified team-mate Buemi at Hockenheim, continued to set the team’s pace today.

With Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull leading the way, the highest-placed sister Toro Rosso car of the Spaniard rounded out second practice in 15th place.

“It was a useful day, as we tested many elements and got a lot of information to analyse,” Jaime reported.

“Because we were evaluating some new components today, I expect us to make more progress tomorrow morning in terms of improving the setup and balance of the car.

“I did a good long run, which is useful in terms of Sunday’s race. As far as our pace is concerned, at this stage I would say the upgrades we have are an improvement and I hope that translates into a better qualifying performance than usual.”
