Kolles hints at F1 comeback for Klien

31 July 2010

HRT F1 team boss Colin Kolles has admitted there is a strong possibility Formula 1 fans will see Christian Klien return to Formula 1 as a race driver. Kolles said on Thursday the team has four drivers and there is a possibility 27-year-old Klien will return as a race driver with the Spanish squad.

Christian Klien enjoyed his Formula 1 debut at the Australian Grand Prix in 2004 with Jaguar. The British team was bought by energy drink Red Bull in 2005 and Klien continued to race for the team until he was replaced in 2006 by Robert Doornbos for the final three races of the season.

It was the end of Klien's career as Formula 1 race driver. In 2007 the Austrian enjoyed a day of free practice sessions for Honda and since the start of the season the F1 fans saw him twice during Friday's free practice sessions (Spain and Valencia).

When asked what the team's drivers' policy is for its three drivers HRT team boss Kolles replied by saying: “We have four drivers. As we always said we have four drivers and we will use all the four drivers.”

Kolles though did not wish to share the team's policy regarding its drivers with the media. But when asked if the fans will see the return of Christian Klien he answered remained vague: “That is a possibility.”
