Vettel: We can sleep well tonight

31 July 2010

Sebastian Vettel is set for an easy Hungarian Grand Prix victory on Sunday, providing he can successfully hold off Red Bull Racing team-mate Mark Webber at the Hungaroring. However, the German’s best lap time of 1:18.773 is a significant three and a half tenths quicker than that of the Australian.

Fastest in all sessions this weekend bar final practice this morning, when Webber instead took the spoils, Vettel stormed to pole position for what is Red Bull’s 100th Grand Prix weekend.

“It was a very good day for us,” he said in the post-session FIA press conference. “All weekend we’ve felt very comfortable, from the first practice session onwards. I think we were able to improve it a bit more overnight and obviously Mark and myself were pushing hard.

“It was a pleasure to drive yesterday and today, so I’m rally looking forward to tomorrow. I had a lot of confidence in Q3 and was able to go quite a bit quicker, so quite a big step I’m happy to be on pole again.

“We can be proud of today and go to sleep well tonight.”
