On a day of damage limitation in Hungary, Ferrari have locked out the second row grid slots behind the all-conquering Red Bulls of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber in Budapest. Indeed, Fernando Alonso has stressed that nothing more could be done and that the start’s of Sunday’s race is therefore more crucial than ever.
Despite collecting maximum points in Germany six days ago, Alonso is set to lose out to Red Bull this weekend as both teams look to close in on leaders McLaren, who continue to struggle.
“I think we found a big gap between Red Bull and us, from as early as yesterday’s practice, but we maximised our potential today to be best of the rest,” Fernando commented.
“Congratulations to Red Bull, they’ve been best this weekend and deserve this front row.
“The start is always important, we know Hungary, but the start – first corner, first lap – will be sixty or seventy percent of the final result, so hopefully we can have a start like at Hockenheim last week and take some positions.”
