Kobayashi hit by 5-place grid penalty

31 July 2010

Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi was already frustrated following qualifying although the Japanese driver has now been handed a 5-place grid drop in Hungary.

Slowed by an HRT car and eliminated in Q1, the former Toyota man then proceeded to miss the FIA scrutineering garage at the entrance to the pit lane, despite an orange light being displayed on the left and officials signalling from the left.

Due to the costly error, Kamui is now forced to set off from the back row of the grid on Sunday as opposed to his original starting position of 18th.

"Mistakes happen," he said. "I obviously went past a red light in the pit lane and missed going to the FIA scales. I just didn’t see it.”
