The reason for Jaime Alguersuari’s retirement in Hungary has not yet been indentified although Toro Rosso continue to investigate following the Spaniard’s suspected engine blow on Sunday.
Having started 17th at the race where he made his Formula 1 debut at late notice last year, Alguersuari pulled off the track as smoke billowed from his car on Lap 2.
“I don’t really know what happened to be honest,” he explained to reporters in the paddock.
“I had nothing on the dash, so we don’t really know what happened so I just stopped the car because I started to lose power and could see smoke.
“We need to check the data and information we have to see what the problem was. I tried to stay off-line but I didn’t have the power to return to the pits.”
