1 August 2010

As the Safety Car was deployed, chaos ensued in the pit lane as most of the field poured in.

Rosberg was first to hit trouble, with his right-rear wheel flying off on the way out, thankfully causing no major harm but minor injuries to Williams mechanic Nigel Hope as it bounced into the team’s garage; the man in question was able to continue work later in the race.

Renault’s fiscal punishment was handed out after Robert Kubica was released into the path of Adrian Sutil’s stopping Force India, which was taken out of the race on the stop. Kubica retired several laps later, having also come in for a stop/go penalty.
