Epsilon Euskadi completes first wind tunnel test

5 August 2010

Although Formula 1 governing body the FIA has yet to decide who will become team number 13 on the grid in 2011, Spanish outfit Epsilon Euskadi has already completed its first wind tunnel test with a possible Formula 1 chassis. The team hopes to join the F1 grid in 2011.

According to the team's Chief Engineer, Sergio Rinland, the squad has enjoyed much progress of late. “We have tested our model for the first time in the wind tunnel last week,” Rinland, who was formerly active at Benetton, Sauber and Arrows in Formula 1, told Corsa. “Everything looked fine and we are already well underway with our design now.”

The team has not yet decided on a driver line-up although Rinland admits that he is keen to strike a deal with Argentina's Esteban Guerrieri.

“It would be great to sign him up but, to be honest, we're not very busy with our drivers at the moment," he said of the man who is currently placed third overall in Renault's World Series.

The FIA is expected to make an announcement later this month with regards to which team will receive the required icense to join the F1 grid. Apart from Epsilon Euskadi, names such as Durango, Stefan GP and Villeneuve Racing are also still in the running.
