The future of the Belgian Grand Prix, held at Spa-Francorchamps, is in doubt once again. The organisers are hoping to extend its contract with Bernie Ecclestone beyond 2012, but they realise it is going to be difficult as many countries are lining up to organise their own Formula 1 race.
With South-Korea, Russia, India and the United States all lining up to organise a Grand Prix at a brand-new circuit the organisers of the Belgian Grand Prix are getting worried they might not be able to extend its contract beyond its current contract that runs out at the end of 2012.
Speaking about the future of the Belgian Grand Prix, Spa-Francorchamps director André Maes said: “It's not a secret that there are a lot of candidates ready to welcome Formula 1. Even the French have lost its Grand Prix so we will have to do our best to extend our contract as soon as possible.”
